One Wish Wins a BBC Make a Difference Award!

We are absolutely honoured and over the moon to have been named a winner in the prestigious BBC Make a Difference Awards, recognising our charity's outstanding contribution to dogs and their owners in the local community.

The award highlights the incredible progress we have made since our launch in 2025. Through responsible rescue and rehoming, behavioural support, education and our growing Stay Together Scheme, One Wish has helped dogs find loving homes while supporting families facing challenges that might otherwise have led to them giving up a beloved pet.

The BBC Make a Difference Awards recognise individuals and organisations that go above and beyond to improve lives, and this achievement is a reflection of the dedication shown every day by our volunteers, foster carers, adopters, supporters and partners. Every dog given a second chance and every family supported has played a part in this success.

While the award the proudest moment in our journey so far, there is still much more work to be done. You can help us to continue making a difference in a number of ways. Those considering adding a dog to their family can choose to adopt rather than buy. People with time to spare can volunteer at events or support our day-to-day activities, while those with suitable homes may be able to provide short-term foster care for dogs waiting for permanent placements.

You can also donate, take part in fundraising activities, sponsor specific projects, or simply help spread the word by following and sharing our social media posts.

"This award belongs to everyone who has supported us on our journey," said our founder Jenna. "From our volunteers and foster carers to our adopters, donors and supporters, every contribution has helped us to transform lives. We're incredibly grateful for this recognition and excited about what we can achieve together in the future."

Our BBC Make a Difference Award is not just a celebration of what has already been achieved, but an inspiration to continue building a future where every dog has the chance to live a safe, happy and fulfilled life.
