Social Media Manager

What You’ll Do

• Manage the charity’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, and other relevant platforms. 

• Plan, create, and schedule engaging content such as posts, stories, photos, and short videos. 

• Share regular updates on fundraising activities, events, dogs in care, and success stories. 

• Ensure all content aligns with the charity’s tone of voice, values, and branding. 

• Actively engage with followers by responding to comments and messages in a friendly, positive, and appropriate way. 

• Support fundraising campaigns through promotional posts, appeals, and clear calls to action. 

• Monitor basic performance metrics (likes, shares, reach, engagement) and suggest ideas to improve visibility and growth. 

• Work collaboratively with trustees and volunteers to gather stories, photos, and updates from across the charity. 

 

Desirable Skills & Experience

You don’t need to be a professional marketer - passion and creativity are key. But this role would suit someone who has:

• Experience managing social media accounts (personal, business, or charity) 

• Strong written communication skills and a good eye for detail 

• Creativity in writing captions, selecting images, and telling stories 

• Basic understanding of social media trends and engagement 

• Confidence using platforms such as Facebook and Instagram 

• Experience with content scheduling tools (helpful but not essential) 

• Reliability and good organisation 

• A collaborative approach and openness to feedback 

• A genuine love of dogs and belief in One Wish’s mission
